Miss Mavis

Where did you come up with the name Miss Mavis? We gave our daughter for a middle name, the name of two of her great-grandmothers - Mavis. From the start, her nickname has been Miss Mavis, which I love... So I stole it!

What five words describe your work? Colourful, textural, handmade, quality, fun.

What was your favourite toy as a child? And now? Karly... a stuffed, fluffy Koala bear, which I used to hold by one ear whilst sucking my thumb and (I can't believe I am telling you this), with the other hand I would pull the fluff off and tickle my nose with it.  I now have 5 very old, very ragged, very bare Karly's that I treasure! Now... Hate to say it but probably my iPad.

What is making you happy right now? Right now? The sunshine!

What did you dream about last night? I'm not one to remember my dreams but randomly last night I remember dreaming about giving sewing lessons! Had better dreams

What is something that can always make you feel better? A crisp early morning run around Hagley Park -invigorating!  And a great way to blow away any cobwebs or ailments.

Do you do anything crazy to inspire creativity? Not crazy, but I love trawling through second hand and op shops, they are overflowing with great inspiration!

We're you popular in High School? Popular with those that mattered, my friends. "Popular" is over-rated.

What is your favourite quote? All-time favourite is Martin Luther King's "I have a dream".  But right now I have on constant repeat   "Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and start being positive about what could go right".

What do you hope to be remembered for? Raising two great, all round kids (Kids, don't let me down on this one!)
