We are super stoked to have such a huge number of you apply to attend Encraftment market each and every time. As the popularity of the market increases, while the stall site numbers remain the same it becomes trickier and trickier to try and fit everyone in. So while many of you were jumping for joy after reading your acceptance emails, I believe just as many of you were feeling a little deflated because you missed out.
Never fear... there will be plenty more Encraftment markets in the future, so we do hope that you all will consider applying again!! All of us are keen to actively help our community of crafters to grow and flourish, and as such, we thought it 'may' be helpful to share some of the things that may have affected your applications. In no particular order...
Be sure to complete your application in full. If you can't attach photos (we know this has been an issue for a number of you, looking to change the form in the future), please do send them through separately. If you know that your crafts don't photograph well, feel free to drop them in to the team, sometimes a touch and feel can make all the difference. Also be sure that you receive a confirmation email as soon as you've completed the form, if it isn't received, it means we haven't received it either.
If you are in a category which has a number of really strong contenders (ahem, jewellery), you may want to consider how you 'sell' your workmanship, especially if you are an up and coming designer. We may need to see even more photos, and how your stall has looked at previous markets.
How have you developed your brand? Sometimes we have two similar artists, both selling a product that is well made, however one will stand out above the other simply because of the way they've developed their brand. What is your vision for your craft? What do you want to be renowned for? What story will your stall tell? When we look at it, will we know that this is a crafter who bakes? Will we know that you love the colours mustard and charcoal?
Remember to edit your collections, having two great products surrounded by five not so strong ones will pull your collection down. Find your focus and edit, edit, edit.
We pride ourselves in producing a market filled to the brim with quality workmanship, and we hope that you feel the same when pursuing the stalls. For this reason only HIGH quality crafts will be accepted.
Unfortunately some people haven't taken the non-acceptance poorly. Remember we are three ladies who have lives and families too. We are not getting paid for this position and we fit it in around our family and work. As such we would hate for this behaviour to affect our decision to run the market in the future.
Hope you found this helpful! We really wish we could accept you all, and hope to see you at a future event. As always if you have any tips or hints for everyone else... please comment below!
Want to know who will be there... stay tuned, we will be posting the list shortly!!
