Buttoflies

I’m Kathryn from Buttoflies NZ. I live on a lifestyle block in Kirwee with my hubby and two lovely kids. From our home base I make fabric covered button hair clips, hair ties, bookmarks, magnets, headbands and brooches to name a few of my goodies. I use my craft as my ‘me’ time once the kids have gone to bed, and as a way of escaping the TV, PC and household chores!! Like most crafters, I too have developed a love for gorgeous fabrics, and I get very excited seeing a project come to fruition.

Where did you come up with the name ? As with most great ideas…it came to me while in bed. I wanted something based on buttons and since my daughter loves butterflies…I thought it was the perfect name.

What are five words that describe your work? Handmade, colourful, fun, exceptional value.

What was your favourite toy as a child? Jimmy the rabbit. And now? My can of Annie Sloan Chalk paint….mmmm – what can I paint now!?

What is making you happy right now? My family …but saying that the kids are fighting at the moment, so maybe they aren’t making me that happy!

What is something that can always make you feel better? Fresh air.

Were you popular in High School? I had a great group of friends at High School – many of which I
still am very close to.

What is your favourite quote? My husband just reminded me of this one I told him. “I don’t care
how old I am. I am just pleased to be here”.

What do you hope to be remembered for? For the smiles that I put on peoples’ faces through my
craft and for being a great Mum and friend :)
