Today we thought we would introduce you to 'The Response' the musical masterminds who will be entertaining you on the day! We are so lucky to have them on board, make sure you pick up one of their albums from The Make Cafe stall!!
Where did you come up with the name 'The Response'? We both play in various covers bands and background jazz combos as well as session work. Basically playing playing a lot of music that wasn't our own. The Response was named as a bit of a retaliation against what made up most of our time in the music world.
What was your favourite toy as a child? And now? We had an old Atari computer that I used to spend hours in front of. Still spending hours in front of screens. I've avoided glasses thus far.
What is making you happy right now? We are amping up for a new album in the summer so we've been rehearsing new material that is starting to sound good which is great fun.
What did you dream about last night? I keep my dreaming for when I'm awake.
What is something that can always make you feel better? I get a lot of life from writing music, if it doesn't go well however...
Do you do anything crazy to inspire creativity? If I'm struggling to come up with ideas for songs I'll give myself tasks like 'write a song in a narrative style' or 'only use two chords for the whole song' It's amazing what putting limitations on yourself can do to make interesting things come out.
Were you popular in High School? Movies paint an interesting picture of popularity in school that I'm not sure actually exists but I've always been pretty oblivious to what people think.
What is your favourite quote? I don't know if I've got favourite quote but Einstein said "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." It's a good thing to keep in mind if things aren't going well (or are going too well)
What do you hope to be remembered for? Though it's probably not true in reality, I'd like to think I don't care what the general populace will remember me for. I just hope that the life God has for me will be fully realised, whatever it looks like.
