Selection night happened on Wednesday last week, we decided to meet early due to the last selection process taking us past midnight!
The Banoffee pie was made: This is a super easy recipe, just make a biscuit crust, fill with pre made Caramel (next to the condensed milk in the supermarket) cover with bananas and cream, then top with grated chocolate. Yum!!
With this in mind and with over 100 applications to process down to half that - we had to make quick decisions! This is why we stress the importance of following our application guidelines.
Photo's (not just links) are essential, it immediately gives us an idea of what you are making, your style, quality and if your craft would work well with the other Encrafters. We will have a size limit on the next application as some of you sent MB images which took almost 10 minutes to open per application!
We also asked the question what makes your craft unique, this is the perfect time for us to see the passion behind why you do this! Just putting down that it is "made by you" is unfortunately not a selling point when we are looking at 100 " made by you's"!!!
I would like to highlight what I describe as a good explanation to this question. This alone makes me want to buy their product!
Honey and Spice soaps are created to be an organic and indulgent experience!
They are formulated to be luxuriously creamy with a silky bubbly lather. They are scented with only precious natural essential oils extracted from plants and flowers. Colour, texture and scent is achieved with herbs, spices, honey, flower petals and clays.
The range includes unique and tempting scent blends. These created with lovely local lavender, zesty citrus fruit, warm and spicy cinnamon, ginger, cloves and peppermint to name a few!
Soothing soaps for irritated skin are made with fresh goats milk, manuka honey, olive oil and oatmeal!
Each bar is carefully made to encapsulate the essence of the rustic and the beautiful. - Found in the raw natural ingredients, the age old processes, and of course~ the very SIMPLE PLEASURE upon using a bar of Honey and Spice soap! ~
PALM OIL FREE!!, ANIMAL FAT (LARD AND TALLOW) FREE!, SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCE FREE!!!
I realise that creative writing is not everybody's skill, but I urge you to spend the time thinking about it, this is your business your product, spend an afternoon writing down why you love your product and you may be surprised how creative you really are!
By the way pop over to Honey & Spices blog to see Rosie's beautiful wedding!
Another application to highlight was from Little Teapot, it was so super easy to process through this application
The way in which we choose through all the applicants is simple, we split each crafter into a category, jewellery for instance had over 25 applications. Then we may split it down further into type of jewellery. After that it is much like American Idol with a yes or no from each of us. Being a trio means it is a simple voting process and we each have very different styles which adds to the diversity!
We are very sad to have to decline applications, we wish we could accommodate all the talented crafters and we are always on the lookout for a venue that can do this which is reason enough to always apply!
For those of you who did make it in, congratulations, and all the best with your crafting until we see you at the market!
Warm regards
Kirsty & the Encraftment Team
